BICHOLIM: Protesting against pollution on the roads, alert locals from Sanquelim on Friday halted mineral ore transportation.
In the morning, some alert locals came on the roads and halted the vehicular traffic movement.
“For all these days ore transportation was going on but now it is high time. The entire road from Sanquelim to Assonora is covered with mud. It worsens with rain and it is just likely that there would be accident because of slippery roads,” the agitators claimed.
“We demand with the government not to play with the lives of the people. Atleast during rainy season stop this ore transportation.” They added that if ore transportation continues it will only lead to accidents.
