VALPOI: The controversy over a mobile tower erected within the premises of Sanquelim community health centre has taken political twist with the local Congress workers aggressively pushing for its removal.
Meanwhile, the local municipality has also warned the health authorities to remove the tower, which it says is erected illegally, within the four days. Failing which, the municipality has threatened to take to the streets to protest against the tower.
On Friday, a group of Congress workers led by Mahila Pradesh President Mrs Sunita Verenkar met health officer Dr Surekha Parulekar and cornered her over erection of the mobile tower.
Claiming that the tower is harmful to the patients and residents in the area, the Congress workers have asked the health officer to remove the tower within the eight days.
failing which, they have threatened to take the law into their own hands.
On its part, the local municipality has threatened to take legal action if the tower is not removed within the eight days.
