Local MLA Pramod Sawant had proposed the station and the police department had submitted its report for the same to the government. On Saturday, IGP Sunil Garg visited the Sanquelim outpost for a feasibility study.
During the discussion, the IGP proposed to renovate the existing building and also find land to on which to construct the new police station. He assured that it would come up by August 15.
“In all, 20 new police stations are proposed in the State, and we have already moved the proposal. Now, giving a special preference to Sanquelim, we will submit a separate proposal for this police station. If there is a need for staff, we could adjust the existing staff,” said Garg.
MLA Sawant stated the new police station will look after seven panchayats and a municipality from Sanquelim constituency, three panchayats from Parye constituency, and Surla village from Sattari.
