While discussing the people’s problems at Sanquelim on Saturday, Gaonkar urged the locals to provide information of the persons to whom they rent rooms. He said, “Safety and security comes first. It is necessary that the information of the person staying in the house should be supplied by the owner.”
He continued, “Most of the time they do not disclose it as they feel the panchayat will levy a tax. What we need is just the information of the people who stay in the rented premises.”
Gaonkar also said he planned to write to the Election Commission seeking the BLO’s help. He said, “BLO knows best who stays in a particular property, so it would be best to take advantage of the same.”
