MARGAO: Deputy Chief Minister Francis D’Souza inaugurated the Sanskruti Bhavan at Baradi, Velim, on Sunday. Built out of tribal welfare fund of Rs 2.5 crore, the Sanskruti Bhavan is a multi facility hall.
Velim MLA Benjamin Silva, Director of Tribal Welfare Sandhya Kamat, Baradi Priest Fr Francisco Fernandes, the local sarpanch and other dignitaries were present on the occasion.
Presenting a report on the development in his constituency, Silva said that he “is working non-stop to give good infrastructure to my constituents and that the hall will benefit the locals as it will give them a platform to showcase their talent.”
D’Souza lauded Silva for carrying out developmental works in his constituency.
The deputy chief minister said that the government is keen in preserving the rich and varied culture of the State and that the BJP government has taken the initiative to construct Sanskruti Bhavans in every ST dominated village.
“It is the responsibility of locals to make use of this hall and to work together to preserve our great culture,” D’Souza said.
