PANJIM: Sanskruti Bhavan at Patto of Art and Culture department has not availed the occupancy certificate from the Corporation City of Panjim (CCP) before the offices could shift four years ago.
CCP officials have informed that the department has not taken the occupancy certificate and hence the notices would be served shortly to the department.
The officer also informed that the total due of Rs 12 lakh is also pending which is supposed to come in CCP’s exchequer.
The entire revelation is followed after the department has complained to CCP that the building has developed crack suspecting undergoing work of the neighbouring construction.
CCP Commissioner Dipak Desai refused to comment when contacted, but said he would verify the facts.
CCP has already issued the stop work notice to the private builder which is behind the Sanskruti Bhavan in Patto and the work is also stopped.
The private builder would be also submitting its report to CCP on Wednesday. Commissioner said that the technical reports of both the construction agencies, private as well as Sankruti Bahvan would be verified through experts to ascertain cause of cracks to the buildings.
However, the Commissioner said that stability certificate which was given to the Sanskruti Bhavan by the structural engineers would also be sought for the verification. He said that the Corporation is presently not having the complete details of the Sanskruti Bhavan which will be sought at the time of hearing.
CCP Mayor Surendra Furtado said that he would initiate an inquiry into the alleged act of Art and Culture Department for not taking the occupancy certificate from the Corporation.
“It is a very grave crime done by the government department, firstly they are not giving any grants for the Corporation and secondly bleeding the revenue in this manner,” Furtado said.
