The Secretary of Village Panchayat Santa Cruz, Diwakar Salelkar, has finally been relieved from his post after the Block Development Officer (BDO) of Tiswadi issued formal relieving orders dated February 25, 2026.
Relieving Order Issued After Delay
According to sources, the relieving order was issued by the BDO, bringing an end to the delay in implementing Salelkar’s transfer. Despite the earlier transfer order, the secretary had not been relieved from his duties, prompting questions from local representatives.
Corruption Case Under Prevention of Corruption Act
It may be recalled that a corruption case has been registered against Salelkar and certain panch members of the Santa Cruz Village Panchayat under the Prevention of Corruption Act. The government has reportedly granted sanction to prosecute in the matter.
The delay in relieving the secretary had drawn criticism, with panch member Inacio Domnic Pereira raising questions with the BDO over the non-implementation of the transfer order.
Further Proceedings Awaited
With the relieving order now issued, further administrative and legal proceedings in connection with the corruption case are expected to follow.
