MARGAO: JMFC Shubhadu A Dalvi acquitted 24-year-old Mehboob alias Pappu alias Ayyan Sayyed from Dattawadi, Sanvordem of drug charges filed against him by the Quepem Police and slammed the police for conducting investigations in an unconstitutional manner.
Adv Amarnath Dessai representing Mehboob argued that the investigations had vitiated the principle of fair investigation as the complainant and the investigating officer was the same person namely the then PSI Vinayak Patil. Upholding the defence arguments, the JMFC said the prosecution had failed to prove beyond reasonable doubts the guilt of the accused and hence set him free.
