Sanvordem villagers, sarpanchas demand cabinet berth for MLA

PANJIM: Sanvordem villagers, sarpanchas and panchayat members on Monday met Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and urged him to induct MLA Ganesh Gaonkar into the Cabinet with a ‘powerful’ portfolio.

Speaking to reporters, the villagers said, “We gave a big lead to the BJP in all the elections and there should not be injustice with the electorate of Sanvordem constituency. We have always been sidelined by the BJP. Last time, the Ministry was given to  the MGP. Therefore, our expectation is that this time our Bhau (Gaonkar)  be given a ministerial berth.”

“Youths of Curchorem have got jobs but in Sanvordem constituency, there are many qualified youth but who are jobless. If those youths are to be given justice, then a ministry is a must,” they said.

The villagers however, said that they were assured by the Chief Minister that a favourable decision will be taken in this regard.

“A positive signal has been given by the Chief Minister. He has said Gaonkar’s name is there in the list and efforts are on to induct him in the cabinet,” they claimed.
