VASCO: Saptah fair stalls on Tuesday were seen still doing the business even after the stipulated seven days timeframe provided by Mormugao Municipal Council came to an end.
MMC Chairperson and Chief Officer Gaurish Sankhwalkar informed that no permission was granted for extension to the owners, yet have they failed to remove their stalls on the eighth day.
In an interesting yet quite confusing scenario, the stalls on both the lane of Swatantra Path are seen doing their usual business without paying any extra rent to the local governing body. Despite of seven days timeframe which got over on August 12, the stalls from fair are seen standing tall.
When asked over the fishy affairs taking place under the nose of MMC, Chairperson Nandadeep Raut said that no extension has been given to Saptah fair.
“The owners were instructed to remove the stalls, and time period, till Tuesday evening was given to them to pay their rent to the MMC which few vendors are yet to pay,” Raut revealed.
