The annual SARAS festival will get underway at the SGPDA grounds, Margao from November 18.

He said the SARAS fair held at the PDA grounds last year had evoked tremendous response despite rains, and exuded confidence that the fair would be a success this time too.
Every year, rural artisans from different states along with state coordinators participate in the Saras fair, providing them amply opportunities to showcase their products and explore marketing avenues.
RDA Minister, Churchill Alemao has said that cultural programes would be organized on a daily basis during the fair, including competitions in singing, group dancing, fancy dress in the evening session.
He said that Saras fair has attracted local artisans and tourists over the years and added that the government has proposed to hold one more Saras exhibition given that Goa is a tourist state.
Project Director Gurudas Pilarnekar said the government of India provides financial support of Rs 20 lakh to organize the fair, adding that an amount of Rs 15 lakh has been released this year so far.
He said transport arrangements have been made to bring Swarozgaries from all the blocks so that the beneficiaries are exposed to various products and items.
“This will also help the artisans to interact with the different Swarozgaries participating from other states”, Pilarnekar added.
