PANJIM: Dehradun native Sameer Sardana still remains a
suspect. Inspector General of Police V Renganathan told the media that Goa
Police and Intelligence Bureau (IB) are still interrogating the terror suspect
who was arrested last Monday by the railway police in Vasco.
“Court has granted four days extension to his remand in
police custody. He is still a suspect. Nobody uses seven mobile phones and five
passports. We will come out with all the details once remand period is
completed,” Renganathan said.
He said that Sardana has deleted the data from the email
accounts and from the laptop which they are in the process of sourcing. “We
have written to the concerned service providers of the email services and we
are also recovering the data from the laptop,” Renganathan said.
Sardana was interrogated by Goa Anti Terrorist Squad,
National Investigation Agency (NIA) and IB after he was arrested for moving
suspiciously at Vasco railway station for over a month. The NIA team left Goa
last week and IB and Goa ATS are still interrogating the suspect.
It has been revealed that Sardana has downloaded information
on how to prepare IEDs and that he surfed the web for information on bomb
blasts in the country.
Renganathan has rubbished allegations made by Sardana to media
persons in Vasco saying most persons who are detained or arrested make similar
claims, which are false.
