MAYEM: Addressing a public meeting at Chorao, Goa Forward Party (GFP) President Vijai Sardesai warned voters of Mayem constituency to awaken before it is too late and defeat the ‘Bhrashtachari Jumla Party’ before they sell Goa to the highest bidder. He said, “I have not come here just to ask for votes. I want you to be part of an awakening to save Goa for the future and our future generations.”
Congressmen Prasad Chodankar, Chorao Panch and Varad Mardolkar and Goa YC President were all praise for Sawant’s work in Mayem, even when he was not MLA. Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) General Secretary Amarnath Panjikar said, “During Covid, when people were dying, the Government was missing and the local MLA was in hiding. Congress workers, who risked their lives to help the sick and dying, were accompanied by Santosh and his workers. Now all those Congressmen are fully with Santosh and we will see that he wins by a huge margin.”
GFP candidate Santosh Sawant said, “Over the last 15 years, Mayemkars have suffered. Simple things like the ferry service in Chorao or Pomburpa have been totally neglected. I promise you a RO-RO service within 6 months of a Cong-GFP government formation. 24-hour availability of ambulance & doctors will be ensured. And I will have an MLA’s office in each of the 7 panchayats. BJP has taken you for granted all these years. We have been badly affected by the mining shutdown and the BJP keeps fooling us. Put an end to this neglect. Vote for the coconut symbol this time and let’s together take Mayem Forward.”
Congress heavyweights, ex-Karnataka Minister R V Deshpande and ex-Union Minister Ramakant Khalap praised Sawant for his dedication and leadership qualities. Deshpande promised the Congress party’s ‘ashirwaad’ and support to Santosh. Khalap said that the combination of the two parties, who are committed to delivering a government of and for Goans, is truly energy doubled.
Vijai Sardesai informed the packed hall that there is a clear wave in Goa against BJP and for Congress-GFP. Mayem is also voting for a change, a change from the 2-family raj of 2 decades. “Many Goan youths became NRIs because the BJP Govt failed to provide them jobs. BJP gave you an NRM – a non-resident MLA, and now offers you ‘Payment’ Shet who sold jobs. Don’t allow the BJP or the MGP to fool you. Santosh Sawant is the only candidate who can deliver justice and develop Mayem as you want,” he said. Sardesai added, “The BJP has sold jobs, sold Mhadei and is planning to sell Goa to Adani. But AAP, TMC-MGP and RGP want to split the anti-BJP vote. GFP did not want to hand over Goa’s future to the corrupt BJP. We joined hands with Congress, whose garbage has been taken by the BJP. We have sacrificed for the alliance, which has 75% new faces and while the Congress is fully backing our candidates, the people of Goa are also with us. A Congress-GFP Govt will be in power in March. So, elect Santosh to be a ruling party MLA. Goa Forward has a history of making first-time MLAs ministers. I promise you that Santosh will be given his due and prominence in our government.”
