MARGAO: Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardessai on Monday hit out at councillors of Margao Municipal Council saying that garbage and pre-monsoon works were never a priority for them and the issue was never on their agenda.
Taking the councillors head on over the burning garbage issue, Vijai told the media after visiting Sonsodo that though garbage management is the work of the councillors, the city fathers play their own games in the civic body. “Plastic and garbage are not a priority for the councillors. Even pre-monsoon works are not a priority though monsoon is round the corner”, he said.
Saying that the MLAs representing Margao and Fatorda had to awaken the civic administration to tackle the waste problem, Vijai said the councillors only want to strike deals with the government for their own benefit and not in the interest of the people.
