CANACONA: Hitting out at Congress for being bankrupt in leadership, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar said the Congress party has to outsource Lok Sabha poll campaign to Fatorda Independent MLA Vijay Sardessai.
Parrikar was addressing a BJP rally at Chaudi-Canacona in the presence of BJP’s Lok Sabha candidate Narendra Sawaikar, Sanguem MLA Subhash Phaldessai, Canacona MLA Ramesh Tawadkar, ex-MLA Damu Naik and others.
“Sardessai will see the end of Congress party in Goa and May 16 will spring a big surprise to Congress after looking at the votes BJP got in Salcette. Congress status has become so pathetic that even in Canacona, that party will have no polling agents in many polling stations during this election,” stated Parrikar.
“We are winning both the Lok Sabha seats in Goa, people in north have already decided to say ‘No to Drugs’. House committee report once taken up will spell out his role in drugs nexus. Why should people someone else, when we have such a clean BJP candidate in North,” asked Parrikar.
MLA Phaldessai was particularly aggressive on the Fatorda MLA saying: “I dare him to hold a Congress meeting with more than 50 people at Sanguem,” he said.
Sports Minister Ramesh Tawadkar has called for investigation into the Fatorda MLA’s reported Rs 25 crore assets shown in his nomination forms of last assembly elections.
“From where this amount came when he had no known source of income? There is a need to investigate his source of income,” said Tawadkar.
Others who spoke on the occasion are Remy Borges, Umesh Naik, youth wing president Chanda Desai, Dr Aiya, Bhushan Prabhugaonkar among several others.
Sarvanand Bhagat compered the function, while Vishal Dessai proposed the vote of thanks.
