MARGAO: Congress’ South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha said he will raise the issue in Parliament and with the ministers concerned about the concerns of locals regarding Mormugao Port Trust (MPT) ‘usurping Goa’s land’.
Addressing media persons on Saturday, he discussed the latest development where the nomenclature of MPT has been changed to Mormugao Port Authority following the reconstitution of the Ports Board recently.
BUT HERALD ASKS as it has done earlier. The Draft bill and the final bill were both placed in the House. At that juncture neither of the Goan MPs and Sardinha being the only opposition MP, raised any objections to the bill which got passed.
The MP said with this change the chairman of the Board now holds more power which was earlier with the Government of India. He said the port’s area or port limits should be restricted just to the port area only and should not touch any area besides this.
