CURCHOREM: Expressing doubts over the seriousness of the State government to resume mining activity in Goa, South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha has blamed the State government for the delay in providing the required information to the Supreme Court.
Sardinha was speaking to media persons in the presence of locals after attending a function at Kalay.
“The mining issue is before the Supreme Court and nothing is in the hands of the Central government. But the State government must provide all mining-related information whenever demanded by the Supreme Court without wasting time and the government should try and resume mining activities at the earliest,” said Sardinha.
“To resolve this issue, I have even arranged meetings of representatives of the mining dependent people with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, Finance Minister P Chidambaram and various other leaders,” informed Sardinha.
“As an MP my efforts to resume mining in Goa will continue,” assured Sardinha and expressed his sympathy to the condition of the mining-dependent people due to stoppage of mining activities for over one-and-half year.
