PANJIM: Member of Parliament Francisco Sardinha has expressed his willingness to contest the 2014 Lok Sabha polls from Goa, however, he has left the decision with the party high command.
“I would like to contest…I am confident of getting a ticket but these are decisions (to be taken) by the High Command as we are a national party,” he said responding to a media question.
Upon repeated questioning whether he is short listed by the Congress, he promptly replied, “How can I tell I am 100 percent a candidate?”
Sardinha was elected to the 12th Lok Sabha in 1998 and to the 14th Lok Sabha in a by-election in November 2007, on both occasions from South Goa Lok Sabha Constituency. He was re-elected to the 15th Lok Sabha in 2009.
Sardinha, meanwhile, questioned the wisdom of the Goa government for hiking the diesel price.
He said Goa is the only State in the country where diesel is costlier than petrol.
