MARGAO: The South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha has appealed to the Central Government to repeal the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Register of Citizens (NRC) if they love the people of India who got them elected.
He also criticised the Government of Goa for constantly giving dates to the people of Goa, but not starting the mining businesses.
“After so many years, we can’t destroy the secular constitution and the country. While passing an order, the Supreme Court has said that the country is going through difficult days. They did not say that it is unconstitutional but indirectly commented that it is bad for the country,” Sardinha said.
“If they love the people of the country who have given them the mandate to rule, then they should stop this,” Sardinha said.
On the mining imbroglio, Sardinha said, “So many times they have given assurance, but nothing has happened on the mining front. Say ‘we can’t’ if you can’t do it, but don’t keep cheating the people,” Sardinha said.
Speaking on drugs problem, Sardinha advised the chief minister and tourism minister to open their eyes and stop “this menace before the tourists stop coming to Goa as after mining the only industry that will help Goa is tourism.”
He informed that he has requested the government to build the Western bypass from Benaulim on stilts to avoid agitation by locals.
