Sardinha’s son Shalom joins AAP

To ask dad to do the same; says Congress is corrupt; not keen on contesting polls, but will take up responsibility if party wishes it

PANJIM: Former Chief Minister and Congress MP Francisco Sardinha’s son Shalom joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday. Shalom had left Congress in 2014.
Speaking to media persons after joining the party, Shalom said that he would urge his father to join AAP as the Congress party is corrupt. “I am against corruption and I found the ideology of AAP which is also anti-corruption similar to mine,” Shalom said. “Congress is a corrupt party. I will urge my father to join AAP,” he added.
Shalom, who is currently pursuing his PhD, ruled out his desire to contest the upcoming 2017 State Assembly elections but said that he would take up the responsibility only if the party desires. “I am doing my PhD so I am not very keen on contesting the elections, but if the party feels that I am capable and wants to field me from Curtorim then I am ready to take the responsibility,” he said.
Shalom, a former Congress Secretary left the party in 2014 a month before the Lok Sabha polls and contested as an Independent from the South Goa constituency after Congress denied him a ticket for the elections. He lost to BJP’s Narendra Sawaikar.
Currently Alexio Reginaldo Lourenco represents Congress in Curtorim and the MLA is likely to get the party ticket again. Interestingly, Congress had fielded Lourenco for the same Lok Sabha polls, and he too had lost.
Shalom was King Momo of Carnival 2016. Meanwhile, environmental lawyer Vishnu Naik also joined AAP.
