MARGAO: Public Prosecutor Teodolina S Sardinha more popularly known as Sarojini Sardinha has been appointed Director of Prosecution following a recommendation of the Departmental Promotional Committee conveyed by the Goa Public Service Commission.
Her appointment as Director of Prosecution also has the concurrence of the High Court as per the order issued by Under Secretary (Home). Sarojini has been a firebrand public prosecutor handling the cases diligently and most often succeeding in getting a conviction. Some of the recent cases where she succeeded in getting the accused convicted were the Dr Verenkar murder case and the most recent Vasco double murder case where the accused Pratima Naik was convicted.
She was public prosecutor in the Sameer Mapari case.
which resulted in an acquittal but her handling of this high-profile case where politicians ruling the roost at that time were involved.
