Margao: The Deputy Chief Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar on Friday chaired a meeting with the organisers of Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandals and Priests performing rituals during the Chaturthi festival.
The meeting was attended by the representatives of organizations from Salcete and Canacona. The government has insisted on having one-and-a-half day celebrations as a measure to be safe from the spread.
“Sarvajanik mandals have asked for police presence in the localities to avoid rush as the celebrations will be restricted for just one and a half day. I will convey all these requests and apprehensions of the stakeholders before the CM to decide the final SOP,” he added.
The meeting was also attended by the Sout Goa District Collector and SP.
“The priests have been urged to take maximum precautions while they go to houses.”The people have to make sure that they take basic precautions and not just depend on the administration and police to take responsibilities,” he added.
