MARGAO: Sarzora gram sabha on Sunday approved a deficit budget where the projected expenditure is Rs 13.88 lakh more than the projected income. However, the budget is backed by unutilized funds of previous years amounting to Rs.36.70 lakh.
The total receipts projected are Rs 1.04 crore of which major receipts are by way of grants as Rs 94 lakh are expected under this head which includes Rs 10 lakh from 14th Finance Commission, Rs 10 lakhs for staff salary, Rs 20 lakh as grant in aid and Rs 5 lakh towards garbage management grants.
The panchayat expects Rs 3 lakh from house tax, Rs 50 thousand from trade tax and Rs 1 lakh from construction licence fee even though it has collected only Rs 1.44 lakh as house tax for the current year.
The total expenditure projected is Rs 1.18 crore of which Rs 15 lakh is marked for construction of roads, Rs 2 lakh for purchase of electrical material, Rs 15 lakh for repairs and maintenance of drains and Rs 4 lakh for erecting a fence for the panchayat ghar.
The gram sabha was attended by all the five women panchayat members while the two male members remained absent. Altogether 60 villagers attended the gram sabha and all present were given biodegradable garbage bags that have been procured from Eco Green company in Mumbai.
