Sarzora sarpanch to seek legal advice on land filling complaint

MARGAO: Sarzora sarpanch Jacinto Fernandes has assured the locals that he will hire a legal advisor and seek his advice to act on a complaint of land filling being carried out in the village.

Jacinto informed Herald that the people had raised an objection to the filling of low-lying agricultural fields admeasuring 20,000 sq mts to develop an access road.
“We received a complaint but the Town and Country Planning Department’s Flying Squad has still not taken action neither have the police filed an FIR against the individual. As such I can’t issue a stop work order and also the National Green Tribunal is the best option but we can’t afford legal services. Hence, I am confused as to how to deal with this matter,” Jacinto said.
Jacinto informed that the village has been facing frequent power cuts as the electricity poles in the village are in a dilapidated condition.
Jacinto said after a taking up the issue with the Power Department, finally the department has finally assured to replace the same with new ones.
