MARGAO: Sarzora gram sabha on Sunday presided by Sarpanch Jancinto J Fernandes resolved to conduct a survey along with police and ward panchas of all premises leased out to migrants.
The gram sabha members expressed urgent need to keep a strict check on migrant after the recently reported incident of rape of a lady in the village.
The sarpanch informed gram sabha members that all the premises rented out to migrants shall be identified during the survey and landlords renting out shall be directed to fill up the tenants form and hand over the same to respective police stations.
Need to sensitize villagers on proper ways of disposal of garbage was highlighted by some villagers who also suggested that a notice board be installed in the village for the purpose. A resolution was taken to clean all the drains and cut all bushes along the roads in the village. The sarpanch informed that he would be taking up with the Chinchinim Panchayat the issue of the huge banyan tree along the road at Dandewado, Chinchinim which is causing obstruction.
Gram sabha members expressed the need to increase manpower at the local electricity department office as the existing manpower is inadequate to meet the needs of locals, also that the panchayat should purchase new electrical fixtures for street lights. Need to replace the existing conductors of power lines as well to replace the corroded wire of power line were other demands of villagers. Sarpanch Fernandes informed that he would approach the local MLA for help in this respect.
