NEW DELHI: The Government is examining a proposal of the Mormugao Port in Goa to set up a satellite port at Betul as part of its expansion plan to increase infrastructure facilities. The project will be cleared only after securing an approval from the Goa government, officials here said.
They said the Shipping Ministry has already approved a proposal of the JNPT in Mumbai to acquire Vadhavan Port in Maharashtra as its satellite port.
Urgency was felt in case of JNPT facing congestion as more than half the containerised cargo passes through this port.
