MAPUSA: Satish Sawant was elected unopposed as the new Deputy Sarpanch of Pirna Village Panchayat, on Saturday.
The post of Deputy Sarpanch was vacant after Sandesh Desai resigned as per mutual understanding between the panchayat members.
A special meeting was convened at the panchayat office and after following the due process, Presiding Officer Manohar Parwar declared Sawant as new Deputy Sarpanch of Pirna.
Local MLA Nilkanth Halarnkar and Sarpanch Rucha Naik congratulated the newly elected Deputy Sarpanch.
