Valpoi: Due to acute shortage of drinking water in their villages since past one week, the Asorde, Shirsode, Suranguli, Upper Hivrem and Poriem villagers from Sattari Taluka on Tuesday led a morcha to the Valpoi PWD Water Supply Department, to immediately solve the problem.
When the villagers met Junior Engineer Viraj Patil, they alleged that he started shouting and spoke arrogantly to them and allegedly asked them to ‘get out of his office’.
“The Water Supply Dept installed a new water supply pipeline in Hivrem village spending around Rs 10 crore but still we are facing the water shortage problem in our village,” the villagers said.
All the villagers from the five villages have demanded that the government take strict action against Junior Engineer and suspend him with immediate effect.
“He is not able to solve the water shortage problem of the villagers. He is lacking knowledge and doesn’t have the common sense on how to speak with the villagers,” the villagers said.
