PANJIM: Save Mhadei Save Goa Front has demanded that the Goa government should immediately file contempt proceedings against Karnataka for attempting to divert Mhadei water.

Speaking to reporters, Adv Hrudaynath Shirodkar, convenor of Save Mhadei Save Goa Front said, “There is Congress-led government in Karnataka and Bharatiya Janata Party is in the opposition. In such a sittuaion if Karnataka is indulging in construction activities then it is clear that the government is asleep. We the Goans condemn what is happening in Karnataka side. The government should not rely on sealed envelop reply filed by the neighbouring State.

“We do not understand why government cannot see what people can see. Even PRAWAH has been constituted and meeting has been held but that too seem to be asleep. Karnataka is interested in diverting water of river Mhadei while Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is interested in diversion of various issues,” he alleged.

Adv Shirodkar said if the people will not raise their voice then the Bharatiya Janata Party government will keep on seeking excuses to divert the issue.
