Residents of Morjim have reiterated their opposition to
upcoming megaprojects in the village. The residents have strongly opposed the
conversion of a village into a city in the name of development.
Residents said that they have been highlighting and raising
their voice against these projects and illegal constructions for the last two
years, but unfortunately, no authority has taken any action against them.
Mayur Shetgaonkar, a local, said that people in Morjim have
been striving due to a shortage of water. He further said that despite passing
resolution in Gram Sabha, the village panchayat has been allowing new
construction in the village.
Alert residents of Morjim have raised serious concerns about
the same and have vowed to continue the Save Morjim Movement. They have also
appealed to the people of Morjim to join the movement in large number and
support the cause.
