PANJIM: NGO Savera on Monday threatened to move the court if Goa Police fails to register an FIR against the food contractor responsible in providing unhygienic food to police personnel who had been deployed for the BRICS Summit.
Addressing the media, Savera’s Tara Kerkar asked, “Why has the Police Department failed to register an FIR against the food contractor when the Directorate of Food and Drugs Administration (DFDA) report clearly states that the contractor was at fault?”
“Information obtained under Right to Information (RTI) states that there were no proper toilets or rest rooms provided to the personnel on duty and that the DFDA observations revealed that measures were not taken to maintain hygienic conditions of the place where the food was prepared,” Kerkar said.
The NGO has demanded that the Police Department give Rs 2000 each to its personnel as they worked hard to make the BRICS Summit a success.
It has also warned the department that they will move the court if an FIR is not registered within 15 days and have termed the budget for food during BRICS a scam.
