SAVOI VEREM: Savoi Verem locals warned that they would launch a massive protest if the construction work undertaken around ancient Shitole lake near Bhoot Khamb plateau is continued. They argue that the project is undertaken to facilitate the proposed residential and steel plant in the area. The meeting was held at Shri Sateri Devasthan hall.
The locals had requested all the seven panchayat members of the Verem-Vaghurem panchayat to attend the meeting out of which four attended and assured the locals of standing by them.
“The authorities who started the work on nearly Rs 4 crore project by keeping the locals in the dark have been exposed. This poses immediate threat to the locals, traditional Gadotsav festival and Shitole temple,” said local Sacchit Palkar.
“The natural sources of water flow from this ancient bandhara structure built in hemand style. The structure has been damaged due to the work and locals are deprived of water from this lake,” said Shailesh Khedekar.
