PONDA: Some Savoi-Verem villagers have already started feeling the summer heat as they are facing an acute shortage of water and are forced to rely on water supply tankers as their taps are running dry.
The villagers, residing at Khede, Konir, Pali, Sada, Bonye, and Velkas, said, “As the summer months of April and May arrive we are facing water shortage and though tankers supply us water it is not sufficient to meet our daily requirements.”
The villagers said, “Since the past 10 years we have only received assurances of being provided water from the Ganjem Water Treatment Plant. However, it is not materialised yet.”
Some villagers said they own wells but added that the water level has dropped and water from some wells has also turned muddy.
The villagers said, “The government as part of its effort constructed three water tanks to solve the water crisis. However, we still have problem to get adequate water supply. We demanded that the concerned authorities improve proper water distribution.”
