Sawaikar assures taxi owners help on speed governors issue

MARGAO: South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar besides promising South Goa Tourist Taxi Owners Association of taking up their objections to installation of speed governors with the Centre also promised to fix an appointment with Union Minister for Surface Transport Nitin Ghadkari whenever he visits Goa next.
Sawaikar met the association members on Thursday in the Collectorate building where the association listed out the six reasons why they were objecting to installing speed governors for taxis.
The main reason, they said, was that the automobile companies were withdrawing the warranty on vehicles fitted with speed governors for damage caused to the engine or other parts of the vehicle and this would cause a lot of hardships to the owners.
Besides, they said, the move would force them out of business as customers would prefer to use the private vehicles operating by way of rent a bike or car, since they would not have the speed governors.
