MARGAO: There has been an increase in the assets of BJP South Goa candidate Adv. Narendra Sawaikar by just over Rs 21 lakhs, as per the assets and liabilities declared by the South Goa MP in his affidavit with regard to his personal and family wealth. Compared to the 2014 affidavit filed by Sawaikar in which he swore Rs. 62 lakhs worth assets, the 2019 affidavit shows total assets, (spouse & dependents inclusive) worth Rs. 83 lakhs, an increase they claim is mostly of the appreciation of assets. In this affidavit, Sawaikar has sworn that the salary as an MP, agricultural and his professional fees as his only source of income and has not acquired any assets or properties for the last 5 years. Though there has been a marked appreciation in his immovable assets, if one compares their market values as given in the two affidavits, there have been no major additions to his properties since 2014. Barring a purchase of a 4 wheeler vehicle and a scooter for himself, the MP hasn’t spent much money on acquisition of immovable assets.
Sawaikar doesn’t have any criminal background as sworn in the affidavit.
