PANJIM: A day after demolition of an illegal religious structure in the South Goa Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) market complex that triggered a tense situation, Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar clarified that the structure was demolished as per Supreme Court guidelines.
Speaking to media persons on Wednesday, Parrikar said that government in principle has approved SGPDA proposal of allowing an area at the market corner for all religious communities. SGPDA chairman Wednesday met Chief Minister moving a proposal, wherein a small area in the corner could be allocated for setting up religious structures that would not disturb the market operations.
“I have agreed to the proposal in principle…I have asked the chairman to move the file…the same would be cleared within a week’s time,” Parrikar said.
