NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has entertained a petition by the Gomantak Mazdoor Sangh, Ponda, challenging a Goa government’s notification in July 2016 inserting the words “minimum wages” in place of “basic wages.”
The case of the union represented by its general secretary Puti Gaonkar is that the amendment of the earlier issued notification on 23.05.2016 will deprive workmen of benefits like DA etc that were available to them.
The Bench of Justices Rohinton Fali Nariman and Vineet Saran on Friday allowed the petitioner to file an additional affidavit within two weeks and the government’s counter affidavit within two week thereafter and listed further hearing on May 7.
