SC appointed mining panel to arrive today

PANJIM: Even as the state appointed teams began the verification of the ore based at MPT and at the jetties and docks in South Goa, the Supreme Court appointed team members will arrive here by today afternoon.
The SC appointed three member monitoring committee including Dr U V Singh will conduct the entire verification of the inventory, e-auction and deposit of sale proceeds in fixed deposits. 
According to the order, the details of the stocks at the lease have to be collected from the respective lease holders. 
The inventory would start from the port, followed by jetties, stockyards, the beneficiation plants situated outside lease area and then the ore at the lease site itself. 
The court had appointed a senior officer of the State mines department nominated by Chief Secretary, not below the rank of a Joint Secretary, Government of India; Dr U V Singh, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forests, Karnataka and Sheikh Naimuddin, Indian Revenue Services (retired) and former member of the Central Board of Direct Taxes and Special Secretary to the Union Government. 
The monitoring committee have been directed to submit their report by February 18. The state government committees headed by Assistant Directors of Mines for re-verification of ore lease-wise and preparation of inventories in both the districts, have to complete the preliminary report of the exercise by December 15.
