PANJIM: The Goa Commission for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes will celebrate “The International Day of the World’s Indigenous People” also known as “World Tribal Day” on August 9, at Conference Hall, Ravindra Bhavan, Fatorda-Margoa, from 4 pm to 6 pm.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant will grace the occasion in the presence of Minister for Tribal Welfare, Chairperson of Goa Commission for SC/ST and Chairman of Goa State Finance and Development Corporation Ltd.
The Commission will felicitate five members of SC/ST community for their exemplary contributions to society during the COVID-19 pandemic namely Kalidas Bhomkar, Carambolim, Tiswadi; Ratnakant Velip, Cola, Canacona; Anil Krishna Malekar, Sattari; Satish Korgaonkar, Verla-Bardez and Sakharam Korgaonkar, Mandrem-Pernem. Keynote Speaker Dr Utkarsh Betodkar, State Epidemiologist will speak on “Need of Social Participation and Community Engagement Approaches for the Health in Rural and Remote Areas: A Goan Perspective on Pandemic Experience”. Arvind Khutkar, Registrar, Co-operative Societies will delve on the Role of the Goa Commission for SC/ST.
