Scenic Goa ideal for spiritual tourism: Governor P S Pillai

Stating that India is a country that preserves all religions, the Governor said there is scope for spiritual tourism to be promoted on a large scale due to the rich traditions of the State

PONDA: Goa Governor P S Pillai on Friday called on the Tourism Department to promote spiritual tourism in the State, as its scenic beauty and lush environs provide the ideal atmosphere for spiritual retreats that can attract a large number of wholesome tourists to the coastal State, he said.  

Pillai was speaking at the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Gopalkrishna Gajanan Devasthan at Kaswada Talawali, after inaugurating the five-day religious festival. Union Minister of State for Tourism Shripad Naik, Power Minister Ramakrishna Dhavalikar and other officials of the Devasthan were present at the event. 

Stating that India is a country that preserves all religions, the Governor said there is scope for spiritual tourism to be promoted on a large scale due to the rich traditions of the State, which are connected with its natural beauty.   Dhavlikar also said that Goa can become an ideal destination for spiritual travellers due to its cultural heritage and peaceful atmosphere.
