MARGAO: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday said the government would modify the employment scheme for differently-abled persons in the coming academic year.
Parrikar has further underscored the need to address issues facing differently-abled children and institutions taking care of special children.

The foundation stone was laid in the presence of Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardessai and Chairman of Gujarati Samaj Trust Mukesh Saglani.
The Chief Minister said the employment scheme for the differently abled unveiled around a decade ago is in need of some modifications. “We have started the process of consultations with agencies and the scheme will be modified around June at the beginning of the next academic year”, he said.
Parrikar also showered praises on former Chief Minister and Margao MLA Digambar Kamat for his government’s decision to provide land for the Gujarati Samaj trust for the school building.
In his address, Margao MLA Digambar Kamat complimented Gujarati Samaj for doing yeoman service for the mentally challenged and hearing impaired children.
Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardessai agreed with the views expressed by the Chief Minister that institutions such as the Gujarati Samaj should be supported irrespective of their political affiliations. He reminded that the Gujarati Samaj has been doing yeoman service since the last 30 years.
In his address, Gujarati Samaj Chairman Mukesh Saglani said the school for the mentally challenged and hearing impaired children has come a long way in
the last 30 years. He has sought government support for the institution to tone up the infrastructure. The new building will cost the Samaj Rs 13 crore and will cater to
