Schemes for orphans, sex workers deferred

Goa government Friday deferred its decision on implementation of two proposed schemes - one for orphaned children and the other for sex workers and women who have been sexually abused - as the cabinet has decided to think over them.

PANJIM: Goa government Friday deferred its decision on implementation of two proposed schemes – one for orphaned children and the other for sex workers and women who have been sexually abused – as the cabinet has decided to think over them. 

The Cabinet was to consider the foster care scheme, and a technical vocational training scheme for sex workers and women who were sexually abused but deferred approval Friday. 

FILM SHOOTINGS: The chief minister Manohar Parrikar said that the government will come up with guidelines on charging of fees for film shootings in various municipalities in the state. “I don’t think that indiscriminate charging of fees is the correct thing,” he said, adding, “There will be guidelines sent.

He said that at the ESG meeting held today a discussion was held on how this type of indiscriminate charging of fees could kill the goose that laid golden eggs.
