VASCO: The management has suspended the headmistress of the Vasco school ‘pending inquiry’, but struggled to address other queries raised by agitated parents in connection with the sexual assault on the seven-year-old girl.

The school management was in the firing line at a meeting with the school management and PTA on Thursday, as parents demanded answers to various lapses in the heinous crime.

During the meeting, the parents demanded the suspension of the ‘ayah’, the teacher present in the class and the school headmistress, for their negligence and delay in notifying the police after the sexual assault.

An official then informed the parents that the headmistress has been suspended by the management pending inquiry.

When Herald and some other parents sought a detailed explanation regarding allegations by the victim’s parents that the teachers had washed off the bloodstains and the innerwear of the child, the management were evasive in their replies.

The management also failed to justify the delay in filing a complaint with the police.

The official, however, assured to appoint a legal lady officer form Thursday to look into the various lapses and stated that action will be initiated against those found guilty person, based on a report from the legal officer.

The parents also demanded action against the security personnel present on duty when the incident took place on Monday.

Another parent suggested that awareness programmes should not be restricted to children alone. “There is a need to sensitise parents, teachers and other staff member as they are also responsible for the safety of their children and students,” said the parent.
