MARGAO: Various school administrations and committee heads have urged the Goa government to take a firm stand on having the educational hub for Margao in Davorlim.
Representative of seven schools including Mahila Nutan, Loyola, Bhatikar, Fatima, Holy Spirit, New Era etc have extended their full support to having the hub at Davorlim. Sachin Bhandare, Ulhas Gaitonde, Sudin Naik, Sanat Raiturkar, Bhiku Pai Angle, Malan Bhatikar, Nagesh Hegde, Sunil Naik and others were present at the meeting.
The representatives also held a press briefing on Friday at Margao and affirmed that they want the educational hub for expansion of infrastructure and to get rid of the congestion of the town.
Chairman of the Samaj Seva Sangh Sudin Naik said even though some MLAs support them, the aim the briefing was keep politics aside and think of the future of the kids of Margao and surrounding areas.
“We have no politics here. If education is not promoted then there will be no place for the new students in the near future,” he said.
This is the plan, looking at the next 50 years. Loyola and Fatima and even the Holy Spirit school have got involved in propagating the idea of hub, he added.
Naik has urged people from Davorlim to think positively and underlined that the hub will not just cater to students of Margao, but also thousands of students in their areas too.
The briefing also expressed fear that if the infrastructure was not improved, Margao schools will not be able to oblige the new applications in the future, leaving the fate of thousands of students hanging.
