CANACONA: Claiming that the Education Department has agreed to provide special arrangements to impart education to the Poinguinim girl, the chairman of the school management has stated that the school will re-admit the girl for the current academic year.
“We are awaiting details from the Education Department and they have agreed to provide us with a teacher and an assistant/helper (ayah) for the girl student during school hours,” informed Shradhanand Dnyanprasarak Mandal Chairman Arun Bhat.
At a joint meeting with the girl and her mother on Thursday, the management of Shri Shradhanand Vidyalaya, Poinguinim decided to re-admit the girl for the academic year 2012-13, but it is still unclear as to when the girl resumes classes.
The mother has been told to await further directions from the school or till the Education Department gives its approval for special arrangements to enable the girl’s re-admission.
Bhat, other school management executive members, a representative of the ADEI and school headmistress Sukhada Painguinkar were also present at the meeting.
According to Bhat, the mother agreed that her daughter needs special arrangements for her education.
“The Education Department has agreed to provide us special arrangements which we had sought to re-admit the girl to our school. We expect the approval in the next 3-4 days,” Bhat told Herald.
The school has reportedly sought for a teacher, helper/assistant (ayah) and proper infrastructure for the girl child.
