VALPOI: Student should have the spark within them and that
spark of learning will lead them to achieve success in their life” said
Director CSIR-National Institute of Oceanography, Prof. Sunil Kumar Singh. He
further said that parents and teachers should encourage the student to pursue
education and do research work in oceanography at NIO.
Singh was speaking at the XI felicitation function of
meritorious student organized by Phoenix Socio Cultural Association (PSCA)
Valpoi. The other dignitaries present on the dais were deputy collector, SDM
Bicholim, Pradeep Naik, Valpoi Municipal Council Chairperson, Parvin Shaikh,
PSCA, President, Abdulla Khan, President of PWWSH, Suneza Khan and President of
Phoenix Student’s Wing, Majida Aga.
Deputy collector, Bicholim Pradeep Naik lauded the efforts
of PSCA for bringing up such events where every youth gets platform to showcase
their talent. He also congratulated the meritorious student for excelling in
SSC exam. Parvin Shaikh while congratulating the SSC toppers said that education
is and always will be very important in building a strong foundation in one’s
life. “Education is a strong building block in building a stronger and
healthier community” she added.
Earlier, SSC toppers from Valpoi- Rushiket Nangare-93%
(Shree Ram High School-Khadki), Sanjyot Shirodkar-92% (Our Lady of Lourdes High
School-Valpoi), Osama Ansari- 88% (High School-Valpoi), Soumitre Joshi-87%
(Hanuman Vidyalaya-Valpoi), Swana Shabir Ahmed-72% (High School-Valpoi) and
Mali Shelke 68% (Government High School-Valpoi) along with their heads of
school were also felicitated. Earlier in the same function three eminent
personalities were also felicitated which include Secretary of Goa Deuball
Association- Sadic Beig (for promotion of game in rural area), former Sarpanch
of Nagargao Panchayat, Parag Khadilkar (youngest Sarpanch for bring facilities
in rural area) and GT Editor, Shashwat Gupta Ray (for maintaining communal
harmony through his writings) at the hands of dignitaries.
