Nanoscience visited Goa’s Miramar beach on Saturday with science-lovers thronging to see the innovations throughout the day.
With an objective to impart the study of new technology of ‘nanoscience’, Goa Science Centre (GSC) inaugurated one-month long ‘Nanotechnology’ traveling exhibition at its campus today.
As the global education is witnessing new subjects and technologies in the last four to five decades, it has also included a new study of nanotechnology. Speaking at the inaugural, scientist from National Institute of Oceanography (NIO) Kamalesh Vora said while the technology is already knocking at our doors it is mandatory to create awareness to study new technologies.
“It could open the door to dramatic improvements in anti-aging treatments, medicines and super-smart and super strong materials. It may also allow goods to be manufactured in new ways like sub-microscopic production lines manned by tiny robots,” he explained the audience comprising of school students.
The scientist said that there is nothing supernatural about the technology but it is infact the way manufacturing process is carried out in the nature.
“Nanotechnology subject will be soon launched at Goa Engineering College (GEC) for those interested and eligible students wanting to take it up as a career,” he further said.
Principal of GEC at Farmagudi and Director of Technical Education Dr Vivek Kamat was invited as the chief guest.
The exhibition consists of interactive exhibits, models, graphic panels, video clips and computerized quizzes for students and general public. GSC Project Coordinator V N Joshi said that entry to the exhibition is made free, which will remain open from 10am to 6pm.
