PONDA: A scooterist died and another seriously injured in an accident at Mardol on Friday.
According to Ponda Police, Vithu Betkikar, 60, was proceeding towards Panjim on an Access scooter, when he was hit by a Maruti Alto car coming from opposite direction. Betkikar was taken to Goa Medical College Hospital at Bambolim, but died on the way. Maruti Kolekar was the other rider hit by the Alto car and he suffered grievous injuries.
Ponda police said that the Alto car driver was on the wrong side. Police arrested the Alto car driver Surest Biradar and registered an offence against him for rash and negligent driving.
