Scooterist seriously injured in Farmagudi accident; three others suffer minor injuries

PONDA: A scooter rider V Selvam (44), a resident of Shantinagar in Ponda but a native of Kerala, was seriously injured in an accident at Farmagudi, on Thursday.
According to witnesses, a Maruti Omni van proceeding towards Ponda hit a roadside mango tree at Farmagudi and bounced back. Selvam was trailing the van when it bounced after hitting the tree; and in an effort to avoid collision with the van, the victim applied sudden brake and yet hit against the Maruti van.
Selvam suffered fracture to his leg and his Aviator scooter was severely damaged in the accident that occurred on Farmagudi slope near GVM College.
The Maruti van driver and an occupant escaped with injuries. A bullet rider coming from Ponda towards Panjim too lost control and fell on the opposite side of the road and suffered minor injuries. Ponda Police conducted panchanama.
