MARGAO: As the Lok Sabha elections are round the corner, the Carmona village on Sunday resolved to demand scrapping EVM machines for the elections.
Villagers unanimously backed the Sarpanch Sandra Fernandes with the proposal for an old ballot paper system for the elections.
It was Savio Santos who moved a resolution pertaining to the scrapping of EVM machines and later supported by all.
It is pertinent to note that as the Lok Sabha elections at the door steps, there are several groups in the country, including in the state of Goa demanding to scrap the EVM machines.
Concerned groups are also demanding for ballot paper system for transparency.
However, village panchayat Carmona is the first panchayat in Salcete taluka to deliberate on the issue and pass the resolution in this regard.
